Cake Smash Guide

Before the cake smash

  • We will discuss your vision for the cake smash!
  • We will determine a color scheme, theme, what your big one year old will wear, cake design, etc.
  • Discuss any allergies.
  • Feed baby a little cake a week before the session to get him/her exposed to the flavor. You could practice a cake smash with a cupcake- this will will help during the actual cake smash!! Your babe will be a pro.
  • Please be sure baby has napped before our session. This will ensure that we get the best photos possible with the smiling one year old!
  • Things to bring to the session: towels, change of outfit for you and baby, diapers, wipes, toy that makes noise, cheerios/puffs, sippy cup, and a bag for your cake covered clothes!

During the cake smash


  • I will need you to practice your best singing and dancing during this time. You will need to help with making sure baby is happy! Please bring a toy that makes noise and that your child loves. This will be a good distraction or the perfect break for them.
  • Enjoy this messy time your child is having!
  • Masks are required at all times during the session.
  • Shoes must be taken off at the door.
  • Wash hands upon arrival and departure. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the session.
  • Only members from your household can join. No one outside of your immediate family can be present.

After the cake smash


Time for you to relax. I will post a sneak peek for you on Instagram and Facebook if you would like. In about two weeks your edited images will be sent to you in an online gallery. You will have two options from here.

  1. Work with me to receive top quality prints and personalized memories. We will meet for coffee to pick what your favorites are and plan what you would like to order. I will provide a quote for you after our meeting.
  2. Print from a printing site of your choice- print quality will be lower and colors may be different than the gallery I send you but I do give you the options of downloading your gallery to do this. When choosing a site please keep in mind that lower prices typically mean lower quality images and vice versa.
